Ways to Play Vermont Pick 4

Find out about all the different ways to play Pick 4 in Vermont. When you see terms such as Straight, Box, Pair or Single Digit on your playslip, it may not be clear exactly what each play type means, especially as a new player, but each one is actually quite simple. Consider which strategy you might want to use in a future draw.

Straight
Straight

This is a prediction that your four numbers will be drawn in that exact order. There's no prize if they all appear but in different positions, or if you get three out of four. It's the hardest play type to win but has the biggest payouts.

Box
Box

To win a Box play, you just need all four of your numbers to be drawn. The order does not matter at all! For example, if you picked 4488, you would still win if the winning combination was 4848, 4884, 8448. 8484 or 8844.

Pair Play
Pair Play

You can just play two numbers instead of four, but you must get both numbers in the correct positions. Play a Front Pair (first two digits), Middle Pair (second and third numbers) or a Back Pair (last two digits).

Single Digit
Single Digit

This is the play type with the best odds, as you just have to get one number in the correct place. Pick your number between 0 and 9, state which position you are betting on (first, second, third or fourth) and match it to win.

Combine Bet Types

The rules of Pick 4 allow you to place a bet on any or all of the play types, so you could combine a Straight and a Box, or play a Pair and a Single Digit at the same time. Go to the Odds and Prizes page to see all the payouts you can win on Pick 4.

How Many Ways in Your Box?
